Enhancing Safety Through Visibility and Vigilance

Municipal Services, Safety and Security

April saw continued progress in our efforts to enhance both precinct safety and public infrastructure, with particular focus on streetlighting functionality and security presence. Well-lit environments are a critical component of effective urban safety, and combined with visible patrols, these efforts support our aim of keeping the Sibaya Precinct safe, accessible, and secure for all.

Lighting and Infrastructure Progress

We are pleased to report significant improvement in streetlighting functionality across the precinct this month. Following continuous engagement with municipal representatives, we can confirm that:

  • Lighting along the M4 and M27 is now 95% operational

  • Heleza Boulevard lighting is currently at 80%, with repairs actively ongoing

Streetlighting remains a high priority for the precinct, not only from a safety and visibility perspective, but also as part of our broader commitment to infrastructure resilience. We extend our sincere thanks to members for their patience and cooperation as we continue to work towards full restoration in the weeks ahead.

Department of Transport Collaboration

We would also like to acknowledge and thank the Department of Transport (DoT) for their continued support in addressing a range of infrastructure challenges along the M4 corridor throughout April. These have included:

  • Replacement of damaged or missing road signage

  • Temporary and permanent road repairs

  • Attention to storm-related damage and erosion risks

Their swift and responsive action has helped to maintain road safety and minimise disruption to precinct users.

Stable Security Operations and Patrol Presence

On the security front, April remained stable, with no major incidents reported. Our Sibaya Security teams maintained high levels of visibility and routine patrols across the precinct, continuing their focus on prevention and early response.

We thank our security personnel for their professionalism, consistency, and responsiveness in ensuring a safe environment for residents, businesses, and visitors alike. Their ongoing efforts are a key part of what makes the Sibaya Precinct a secure and well-managed space.

Looking Ahead

As we move forward into the new quarter, both lighting restoration and security visibility will remain core priorities. These pillars of public safety go hand-in-hand, and we remain committed to supporting and enhancing both through active coordination with municipal authorities and precinct management teams.
