Members of the eMdloti Conservancy and the KZN Botanical Society participated in the iNaturalist City Nature challenge at Sibaya Forest on 30 April.
As all coastal forest walks should be, it was a slow-going affair on a beautifully warm autumn morning. So slow in fact, that the group of nature enthusiasts spotted an epic Flap-Neck Chameleon which was logged on the iNaturalist app. https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/32854-Chamaeleo-dilepis.
Other interesting plant species spotted included Gladiolus dalenii and Helichrysum cooperii in full yellow bloom.
The iNaturalist app was designed to provide natural lovers all over the world to record their observations, share with fellow naturalists and discuss their findings. This data furthermore contributes to biodiversity science by helping scientists find and use the data.
