Transformations in Sibaya: footpaths, clean drains and flourishing flora

Cleaning, Greening and Maintenance

Our precinct is undergoing remarkable transformations, thanks to the tireless efforts of the SPMMA cleaning, greening and maintenance teams. We are dedicated to enhancing the beauty and sustainability of our environment, and we’re pleased to share the latest developments with you.

Creating a New FootpathΒ

Our greening and maintenance team has performed wonders by creating a new footpath among the flower beds. This addition allows residents and visitors to enjoy the vibrant flora up close, making walks in our precinct even more enjoyable.

Pruning and Shaping Plants

The SPMMA greening team has been diligently pruning and shaping plants throughout the precinct. This careful maintenance ensures that our greenery remains healthy and aesthetically pleasing.

Aloe Care & Thriving Succulents

Our team has been actively involved in the care of our Aloe plants, including washing and watering them regularly. The landscape team is also applying insecticide and nutrition to our plants, promoting their health and growth. Despite the dry conditions, our succulent plants are thriving and flowering beautifully. The gardens along Heleza Boulevard are particularly stunning, with Aloe ferox and Aloe traskei attracting numerous bees. These plants not only add visual appeal but also support local pollinators.

Weed Removal

The Idube Landscape team has been hard at work removing weeds from our gardens. This ongoing effort helps maintain the beauty and health of our green spaces.

Future Nursery Project

We are excited about our future project of establishing a nursery. This initiative will allow us to grow and nurture a wider variety of plants for our precinct, further enhancing our green spaces.

Stormwater Drain Maintenance

The maintenance team has been unblocking our stormwater drains to ensure proper drainage and prevent flooding. This crucial task supports the overall infrastructure of our precinct.

Addressing Plant Damage

Unfortunately, one of our Aloe plants at Circle 1 was damaged by a truck. Our greening team quickly attended to it, cutting off the damaged branch and applying a tree sealer to prevent further damage and infections.

We hope you take the time to explore and appreciate the efforts of our greening and maintenance teams. Your support and feedback are always welcome as we continue to make Sibaya Precinct a thriving and beautiful community.
